Receipe For Basic Veg Indian Thali

 Ingredients:

Basmati rice

Chapati or naan bread
Dal (lentil curry)

Mixed vegetable curry (such as aloo gobi or mixed veg curry)

Raita (yogurt-based side dish)

Salad (sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions)

Papadum (optional)

Pickle or chutney (optional)

Instructions:

Cook Basmati Rice:

Rinse 1 cup of Basmati rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.

In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
Add the rinsed rice to the boiling water, cover, and reduce heat to low.

Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.

Prepare Chapati or Naan:

If making chapati, knead whole wheat flour with water and a pinch of salt to form a smooth dough.

Roll out into thin circles and cook on a hot skillet until lightly browned on both sides.

If using naan bread, you can buy ready-made ones or prepare them using a recipe of your choice.

Make Dal:

In a pressure cooker or pot, cook 1 cup of lentils (such as red lentils or yellow lentils) with water, turmeric, salt, and any desired spices (like cumin, coriander, and garam masala) until soft and creamy.

You can also temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic, and dried red chilies for added flavor.

Prepare Mixed Vegetable Curry:

Chop a variety of vegetables such as potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, peas, and bell peppers.

In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, onions, and garlic. Sauté until golden brown.

Add the chopped vegetables, along with turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, and chili powder to taste.

Cook until the vegetables are tender, adding a little water if necessary.

Prepare Raita:

Grate or finely chop cucumber and mix it with yogurt.

Add salt, roasted cumin powder, and chopped cilantro for flavor.

You can also add finely chopped tomatoes or onions if desired.

Assemble the Thali:

Arrange a portion of rice, chapati or naan, dal, mixed vegetable curry, raita, salad, and papadum on a large plate or thali.

Serve with pickle or chutney on the side if desired.
