INGREDIENTS:-



For the marinade:



- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces

- 1/2 cup plain yogurt

- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

- 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil

- 2 teaspoons garam masala powder

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

- Salt, to taste



For the sauce:



- 2 large onions, thinly sliced

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 2 medium tomatoes, diced

- 1 tablespoon ghee or vegetable oil

- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

- Salt, to taste

- 1/4 cup heavy cream or half-and-half (optional)

- Fresh cilantro, for garnish



INSTRUCTIONS:- 



1. In a large bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients. Add the chicken and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.


2. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side.


3. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are lightly browned and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.


4. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
