- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

- 2 teaspoons garam masala powder

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- Salt, to taste

*For the sauce:*

- 2 large onions, thinly sliced

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 2 medium tomatoes, diced

- 2 tablespoons tomato puree

- 1 tablespoon garam masala powder

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

- Salt, to taste

- 2 tablespoons heavy cream

- Fresh cilantro, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS:-

1. *Marinate the chicken*:

In a large bowl, combine the chicken, yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.

2. *Cook the chicken*:

Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook in a skillet or grill until browned and cooked through. Set aside.

3. *Make the sauce*:

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are lightly browned and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.

4. *Add the garlic and ginger*:

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

5. *Add the tomatoes and spices*:

Add the diced tomatoes, garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are soft and the sauce has thickened, about 10-15 minutes.

6. *Add the heavy cream and butter*:

Stir in the heavy cream and remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened to your liking.

7. *Add the cooked chicken*:

Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and stir to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the chicken is fully coated in the sauce.

8. *Serve*:

Serve the Butter Chicken hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and accompanied by naan, rice, or roti.
