 NAVABI CHICKEN 


DESCRIPTION:-

INGREDIENTS:-


*For the marinade:-*


- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into small pieces

- 1/2 cup plain yogurt

- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

- 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil

- 2 teaspoons garam masala powder

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 tablespoon ginger paste


*For the sauce:-*


- 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil

- 1 onion, finely chopped

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

- 1 tablespoon tomato puree

- 1 tablespoon heavy cream

- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder

- 1 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

- Salt, to taste

- Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish

- Chopped nuts (almonds or cashews), for garnish


INSTRUCTIONS:- 


*To make the marinade:-*


1. In a bowl, whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, ghee or oil, garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.


2. Add the minced garlic and ginger paste to the marinade and mix well.


3. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix gently to coat.


4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.


*To make the sauce:-*


1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.


2. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.


3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for 1 minute.


4. Stir in the tomato puree, heavy cream, garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and cayenne pepper (if using).


5. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.


6. Season with salt to taste.


*To cook the chicken:-*


1. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing any excess to drip off.


2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.


3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.


*To assemble the Navabi Chicken:-*


1. Add the cooked chicken to the saucepan with the sauce.


2. Simmer the chicken in the sauce for about 2-3 minutes, until coated.


3. Garnish with chopped cilantro and nuts.


4. Serve hot with basmati rice, naan, or roti.
