INGREDIENTS:-


- 1 cup basmati rice

- 2 cups water

- 1 tablespoon ghee or oil

- 1 small onion, finely chopped

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 small tomato, diced

- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

- 1 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

- Salt, to taste

- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

- 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, chopped

- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder


INSTRUCTIONS:- 



1. *Cook the rice*:-


Rinse the rice in a fine mesh sieve until the water runs clear. Drain and cook the rice in a medium saucepan with 2 cups of water over high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.


2. *Prepare the vegetables*:-


Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet or tawa over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.


3. *Add the spices and tomato*: -


Add the cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add the diced tomato and cook until softened, about 2-3 minutes.


4. *Add the cooked rice*: -


Add the cooked rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps with a spatula. Stir-fry the rice with the vegetables and spices for about 5 minutes, until everything is well combined.


5. *Add the herbs and lemon juice*:-


 Stir in the chopped cilantro, mint leaves, and lemon juice. Cook for 1 minute.


6. *Season with salt and garam masala*:-


 Season the Tawa Pulao with salt and garam masala powder to taste.


7. *Serve*:-


Serve the Tawa Pulao hot, garnished with additional cilantro and lemon wedges if desired.





TIPS:- 


- Use leftover cooked rice to make the Tawa Pulao.
