 VEG MOMOS 


DESCRIPTION:- 



Veg Momos are traditional Tibetan dumplings filled with a delicious mixture of sautéed vegetables, spices, and herbs. These soft, juicy momos are wrapped in a thin dough wrapper and steamed to perfection.

INGREDIENTS:-


*For the dough:*-


- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/4 cup lukewarm water

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil


*For the filling:*-


- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage

- 1 cup finely chopped carrots

- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions

- 1/2 cup finely chopped bell peppers

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 tablespoon grated ginger

- 1 teaspoon soy sauce

- 1 teaspoon sesame oil

- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Chopped cilantro or scallions, for garnish


INSTRUCTIONS:- 


*To make the dough:*-


1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder.


2. Gradually add lukewarm water and mix until a dough forms.


3. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.


4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.


*To make the filling:*-


1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.


2. Add chopped onions, bell peppers, and garlic and sauté until they're tender.


3. Add chopped cabbage, carrots, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.


4. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.


5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.


*To assemble the momos:*-


1. Divide the dough into small balls.


2. Roll out each ball into a thin circle.


3. Place a tablespoon or two of the filling in the center of each circle.


4. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape.


5. Press the edges together to seal the momo.


*To steam the momos:*-


1. Place the momos in a steamer basket, leaving some space between each momo.


2. Steam the momos over boiling water for 10-15 minutes or until they're cooked through.


3. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.





TIPS:- 


- Use a variety of vegetables to add texture and flavor to the filling.


- Adjust the amount of soy sauce and sesame oil to suit your taste.


- You can also add noodles or tofu to the filling for added texture.


- Experiment with different types of dough, such as whole wheat or all-purpose flour with spinach puree.
